Visitors to booth 602 will get a first-hand view of Beta LaserMike’s new three-axis Lump & Neckdown Detector and learn about the newly acquired DCM cable testing product line

Beta LaserMike, a leading global provider of precision measurement and control solutions, will show wire and cable manufacturers at Wire Expo 2012 how its new three-axis LN Detector (Lump & Neckdown) instantly detects changes in cable diameter and immediately alerts operators of product faults. Beta LaserMike will also present the latest DCM cable testing solutions. Beta LaserMike recently acquired DCM Industries and representatives will be available to discuss testing applications. Wire Expo 2012 is being held at the Omni Dallas Hotel in Dallas, Texas from May 22 - 23.

Beta LaserMike’s new three-axis LN3015 Detector is an advanced, compact system that provides more precise detection of lump and neckdowns in the product diameter than two-axis systems. The three-axis scanning system offers a higher degree of coverage around the product’s circumference to instantly detect sudden changes in the surface. The LN3015 accommodates product diameters to 15 mm (.59 in) and detects flaw height down to 0.02 mm (0.0008 in.) at line speeds up to 3000 m/min (9842 ft/min). It can accept a range of inputs including length encoder, tachometer, line start/stop, and clear faults and can be connected to a host PC or PLC using Ethernet IP, DeviceNet, Profibus, and Profinet. Data capture capabilities enable you to report critical process information such as height, length, number, and location of the flaw.

Beta LaserMike will also introduce the new 3S-PCX broadband telecom cable test system and new CATS-3000 shielding effectiveness test system from DCM. The new Model 3S-PCX covers the complete range of applications for telecom cables, from 100 kHz to 100 MHz applications. Traditional as well as new international telecom cable standards for xDSL and other broadband applications (including ASTM, IEC, ANSI-TIA) can be quickly and automatically tested. The feature-rich 3S-PCX includes 26-pair/52-pair/104-pair test fixture options, dual impedance features, and updated test reporting.

The new DCM Model CATS-3000 provides a tri-axial test fixture and test automation software enabling the testing of all three of the standard shielding effectiveness test parameters required for data cables. Utilizing the CATS-3000 test solution, combined with a suitable vector network analyzer, cable producers and test laboratories can quickly and efficiently perform shielding effectiveness tests.
